I'm kinda suprised no one has started this post before... if they have, I'm missed it! I'd love to see other folks impressions, displays, kit, etc. I'll work on getting a picture of my stuff, but I'd love to see where other folks are at. I personally get very inspired seeing that sort of thing. GK

Here's a few photos of my guys out in California. I couldn't make it there, but I think they did a pretty good job.

It was indeed, the Old Fort MacArthur Day's show, held every July in San Pedro California. Its long been my favorite event of the year, but sadly, my move back east prevented me from going.

I added the second one. That's an original WW2/Korean war helmet with SSG stripes and 40th division insignia (both sides) original to the helmet. I still need to get rank and division insignia sewn on a fatigue jacket.

I love the freshly opened package on the table that obviously had that one last thing you needed!

Yep, I just got a pair of mint M1951 wool trousers. And I mean MINT. Like, I'll feel bad getting them dirty.

There's Paul and I. We posed inside because it was hot as blazes outside, and we didn't want Paul's neighbors to think the war had come home, so to speak. I'm wearing an M1950 field jacket (ie, improved M43 jacket), with M1951 field trousers, russet combat boots, an M1951 wool shirt, and M1951 pile cap with "goldenlite" sergeant stripes affixed. Webgear consists of a mix of WW2 webgear (belt, ammo pouches) and more recent issue (M1945 suspenders, grenade carrier). Paul is representing the mix bag of late war uniform issue. His M1951 field trousers are newly issued, as opposed to his field jacket which has seen some wear, however his wool shirt is WW2 surplus, as are his service shoes. For reference, service shoes were issue to support personnel, such as the battalion communications platoon that we portray. Summer uniform ware. Surplus WW2 HBT fatigues, same webgear as above, russet combat boots, and helmet cover with rank affixed to field expedient cover. Believe or not, yes, this was a practice in the 40th division. I think its really weird looking, and goofy, but it is what they did.

Ok, the pictures aren't that good, but they give the general idea of what I've got going. I am lacking winter stuff as of now, but it's a work in progress. I refer to this as what would be worn in a work detail in the summer. Rear echelon of course. Now this is full pack and gear. Missing here is my e-tool and the bayonet scabbard on my pack. And since this isn't enough to call a winter uniform, I'll call it a fall uniform. Wools, pile liner, M43 jacket. And finally, a pic of me at Old Fort MacArthur Days in an M12 I borrowed from Jun. Comments and constructive criticism are most welcome

I was surfing the web looking for M1951 field trousers and came on your posts regarding Korean War Re-enactments and the gear you all have collected.
You guys are making me feel REALLY OLD....the first field jacket I was issued was an M1951, which I wore until I got out of the Army in 1983. I was looking on the Internet for stuff like the M1951 field trousers 'cause I'm moving back to Alaska and thought a cheap pair could come in handy. Little did I know that the vintage gear that was issued when I was stationed up there would be relics of a bygone era. I remember buying OG shirts at Clothing Sales at Fort Richardson as late as 1979 that were depot packed from the Korean War. They came out of the boxes with a strong odor of Naphthalene moth balls. They had a never ending supply from the early fifties.
So do you folks go out and stage skirmishes? If so, have you got your EE-8 field phones and PRC-6 radios for Commo :-}

I just picked up a BD-72 twelve station regimental switchboard. I have two EE8s, two sound powered phones. I had a PRC-10 but I sold it recently because I'm focusing on the telephone commo.

Definitely a flash from the past. I packed a PRC-10 around a time or two. Ditto for the PRC-6, which actually seemed to work more reliably in my brief experience with the two. It was part of the equipment used by the ROTC unit at UVM where I got started. I never ran across the BD-72. Is you switchboard operational? Link to a photo using a EE-8 I did a while back as part of an effort to get folks thinking about what was in their agency's disaster recovery plan: i78.photobucket.com/albums/j94/EdLeavitt/Misc/17553433.jpg
