US helmets are very rare and expensives in finland, so i can`t aquire US helmet right now. Hyvää iltaa... Great start to a great impression. Have you tried eBay for a USGI M1 helmet? They are all over the WWII militaria section at various costs. Kippis, etooloperator

I'll keep an eye out for one. Its still possible to get them quite cheaply in the U.S. with a little searching.

The problem for him would be shipping though. Shipping several pounds of metal across an ocean can cost as much if not more than the helmet.

Here's me in my 1950 winter impression, and what I'll be wearing at our upcoming event.

Tom...nice M2. Until I started posting here, I was a firm believer in removing bayonet lugs, discarding potbelly stocks, and tapping off anything that wasn't a flip sight!
What a great impression you have!
Could you perhaps post a pic of your "hobo roll" for the edification and enlightenment of others?

Now that I have this impression, I wouldn't change a thing on it!

Here's the beginnings of my P.P.C.L.I. (Canada) Korean War impression. The pouches and all are a little out of place since I hurridly got it all together for the photos. All of the photos cut my feet off but I am wearing U.S.G.I. Double-buckle boots.

Stu - looking at your impression, looks good, but the fixing for the ammo pouches to the cross straps are wrong......the buckle at the top of the pouches is the wrong way round - it should look like this:

I think you've done a great job. Only one thing jumps out at me: If possible, get some magazines for your ammo pouches and tighten up your pistol belt. I wouldn't worry about the "newness" of your uniform; I personally believe that regular use will age your clothes a lot more convincingly than some of the steps guys take to artificially age them.
All the same, you look good.

I find it more comfortable when my belt is looser. When I have it lighter it tends to ride up or when i bend down it buckles up my stomach. It's mostly depends on what is comfortable for you and personnel preference.
Ya I'll try to get mags for my pouches or some type of fillers. I already have one m1 carbine mag so i just need 5 more.
I only touched my jacket for little bit of artificial aging, water+some dirt and that's it. The pants I won't touch since they will get dirty by regular use anyway unlike the jacket.
Thanks for the suggestions and comments.

I find it more comfortable when my belt is looser. When I have it lighter it tends to ride up or when i bend down it buckles up my stomach. It's mostly depends on what is comfortable for you and personnel preference. I didn't say to strangle yourself with it; I suggested that you tighten it up a bit. In the photos posted, your belt is actually sagging wherever you've applied weight. If worn properly, a pistol belt should not do this. When you add more weight - with loaded ammunition and whatever else you're carrying, it will sag even further, rendering the belt more of a hinderance than a help. Furthermore, if it's bunching up on you when you bend over, then you're wearing the belt a tad too high on your body. -MM

Ahoy!
You look pretty good.
As MM stated I would also just snug up the pistol belt a touch, when loaded with ammo and a full canteen(s) it will feel like it is hitting you below the butt!
The ammo belt although looks cool for photos in reality will do nothing but get the ammo dirty and the links rusted but quick. You could carry a .30cal ammo box with some linked ammo on top for looks, and your spare cleaning gear or what ever you wish. Just a thought.
As for your uniforms- Hey guys getting up to the front had uniforms that were new at one time. Just wear them around mowing the yard and such and in no time they will look salty.
Looks like you are well on the way to a first rate impression.
Transport out.

Belgian soldier in Korea, 1951. The pose may look rather odd on the second one, but it is suprisingly common in real photos ;D! BP

Front: Back: I'm trying to get Inchon landing/ Seoul frame. I need to pick up a frog poncho and maybe exchange the army hbt trousers for p41s and get another canteen to fill the left canteen pouch.

I agree with the fact that uniforms when issued in the field were once new but in a real war situation they would very quickly have got dirty, worn and faded. Now in this hobby if your not wearing them all the time or at a battle/show most weekends they aint gonna look the part. one of our impressions is Aussies in the jungles of WW2 and you need to get them timeworn quick. What I do is wash the uniforms a few times and leave them on the washing line to weather for a few weeks, Come rain or shine, snow or fine they soon become to look the part and so do you. Ok I know the kit is expensive but why buy it if you aint gonna do it right.
Looking through the threads on here at the photos youve all put up I applaud you gents on your impressions let me say well done to you all. Regards John.
