Ouch! Originals can be had for a lot lot less... many of them still have the liners in.

Yeah that price is very steep for sure. haha. But still cool how some things of the Korean war era are being repro'd

They'll never do it, but I'd like to see the M-1948 parka repro'd. Even cooler would be the USMC parka!

Yes, USMC fishtail parkas would be a very nice touch.

Hmmm... I'm pretty sure you know the difference, but for those who may not. The M-51 FISHTAIL parka was worn by all branches. Prior to that the Air Force (named B-9?) and Army wore the M-1947, M-1948 Overcoat-Parkas, and some leftover WWII "mountain" parkas. The USMC wore a very similar (to M-48) parka but it was longer and had "take-up" tabs at the waist instead of a web belt.

Why would ANYONE even consider buying one of these overpriced fakes reproductions is utterly beyond me. Only an idiot with more oney than brain would spend £449 on one. You can get a mint example of a REAL M-51 parka for half the price on eBay, first pattern, with an original Alpaca wool pile liner in. There are about half a dozen on their now for around £200-300 You could even get an original M-48 parka and liner for around £450-500 in great condition I've even bought an EX-48-1 prototype parka for just £280 from a thai seller recently which is the daddy of parkas. It's honesty laughable the prices these muppets ask for repros lol I can't believe anyone buys one I did hear they were doing a repro of an M-48 in Japan , I thnk it's called the real McCoy. I did have a look at one just to see it, and admittedly it did look good, but it wasn't A real one Is the bottom line, it also didn't have a liner and was around $900 I think. Here is the link blueingreensoho.com/site/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=117&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=12657&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=28&vmcchk=1A nice copy, but at a Laughable price. I'd rather have the real thing for the same price and with a liner lol

Hmmmm... When I clicked on the link, thinking of the M-1948, it brought a (perfect copy?) of an M-51 fishtail parka! Although labeled as an M-48, you can tell the fishtails because there's a short "split" on the back of the coat; that's so you can wrap it around your legs to keep out the cold wind. IIRC the original fishtails had attached hoods with removable wool-friese liners. Later M-65? parkas had removable hoods.
The "M-1948 overcoat-parka" had 4 pockets: 2 upper-waist slash pockets with flaps and two deep patch, with flaps, below the integral web belt...with permanently attached hood and a removable pile (imitation fur) liner. I've seen manufacturing dates as late as 1952... made after the M-51's were issued.

The link is for an m48 copy, not a 51
The coat your describing is an m-47 parka buddy. I know as I collect them and am an expert in the area of parkas/coats They have a belt , usually missing. The liners used snap connectors to attach to the shells and no sleeve pocket
They are pretty common to buy from eBay off US based sellers They aren't very expensive but are hard to find in any large sizes I managed to find an extra large one after months of searching for my collection
If you want to know any more please ask I have every US parka you have ever even heard of

I stand corrected... evidently the M-48 was the first fishtail parka.
