Korean War issue sleeping bag comforter

I now have a USMC marked sleeping bag comforter and am trying to find out as much as possible about it and how it was used. There are several snaps and zippers and such, but I am not sure how they are intended to function to work this thing.

Who got them, when did they start coming into service, any info is appreciated.

I never heard of it called a 'comforter' before, we called them 'liners'. Is it felt? We were only issued them when going inot cold weather training, in Bridgeport CA, Norway, or ops like Team Spirit that took place in S. Korea during the winter. afterwards, we turned them in. I don't recall a lot of snaps and zippers though. This may be something else all together...pic?
