Hi, I just wondered if anyone has a source of repro M43 pile caps. I want to fix a badge (as per the Belgian-Luxembourg) contingent on mine which would not do it any good (it involves cutting a hole in the brim) and I've got quite a large head and they're quite hard to find in my size anyway! Can anyone recommend a type? I'm aware varients have been worn by armies since... EDIT: Sorry, I've got the designation wrong - the type I'm looking for does not have a furry brim. Thanks! BP

Sportsmans Guide has German caps which are SIMILAR but different enough they wouldn't do for living history... you may want to check them out.

Hmmm...
I suppose I should get a real one then. If I use original insignia, I don't suppose there will be too much of a problem. The German cap was the one I was originally thinking of (the Swedes have one like it too) but there would be extensive changes necissary for the flaps.
Got to wish there were more repro KW suppliers.

Haven't done a big study, but I wouldn't think so: very little activity here on the forum and NO reenacting inerest...

Real shame. There is interest out there, it just doesn't seem to extend to the forum...

This is a valuable and unique forum but most days, it's like visiting a ghost town.

So? If there is no interest, it isn't the forum's fault. There are plenty of registered members, just that most of them have no more than 1-5 posts.
Why do you not contribute rather than make comments like this? If people asked questions, other people would respond and it would be like...I don't know...a real forum.

He didn't criticize anyone; he pointed out a simple fact: There are times when there is little activity on the forum. In fact, how is his comment different from your earlier comment about the lack of interest on the forum?

Maybe not, I certainly do not mean to be offensive to anyone. It is just irritating that, given that there are only about 5 people who contribute to this forum these days, that discussions end up on this sort of topic, particularly on threads about other topics.

I understand.
I think there are people who expect every reenacted era to be teeming with reenactors and huge national/international events, and they're sorely disappointed when that doesn't happen. You'd think that reenacting the Korean War would be popular, especially with those doing late-war American/British/French World War II, but oddly, it isn't.
