A bit of history:
840 infantrymen of the Royal Hellenic Battalion, part of the Greek Expeditionary Force (GEF or ÅÊÓÅ) arrived in Korea on 9 December 1950. Once equipped and trained, this battalion was assigned to the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division’s 7th Cavalry Regiment. Augmented by a second battalion shortly after the Korean War ended in a cease-fire, these units returned to their country in December 1955.
This display from the Military Museum in Athens depicts a soldier of the Greek contingent in the early period of the war. Later on, soldiers seemed to have been supplied with American equipment and uniforms, keeping their cap badge to be worn on Pile Cap.
