Here is a pretty good template for a US Army impression, circa 1953.
Summer: HBT's (1st-3rd patten)
HBT Cap (Long or short Bill)
--Alternate M43/51 Field Cap
Socks, Cushion Sole OD
T-Shirt: WWII tank top
--Alternate white T-Shirt
Boots: Two Buckle
--Alternate, the tall jump boot looking boots, M45 or M51
Helmet WWII pattern
Cartridge Belt
--Alternate Pistolbelt
Canteen Covers (x2)
First Aid Pouch
Bayonet(optional)
Mag Pouches: Pistol/Carbine (if weapon appropriate)
M45 Field pack
M45 Suspenders
Shovel Cover: M43
Shelterhalf: OD w/buttons
Canteens (x2)
Carlisle Bandage
Messkit
C-Rats
Webgear SHOULD be OD, but a mixture of kahki/OD gear is acceptable and was common.
OPTIONAL: M52 flak jacket, Sleeping bag, Raincoat(WWII, M51 pattern) or poncho (WWII style or VN pattern w/hood which came out in 51),
Will work on winter standards later.
