LAST STAND OF FOX COMPANY, Bob Drury and Tom Clavin, Atlantic monthly Press, New York, 2009
ISBN-10-0-87113-993-6
One of, if not the best book I've read yet concerning the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. The author relates the historical details of Fox Company 2nd Bn. 7th Marines and their valiant defense of Fox Hill at the Toktong Pass during the Chinese offensive.
What makes this book really interesting are the personal details; the sights, sounds, thoughts and smells experienced by the participants, gained from interviews the author conducted with the survivors.
An outstanding book, and more than worth your time to read!

Sounds good, I'll have to pick it up. Being an old reconner, I purchased, "The Elite" I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but it's about 1st MarDiv's Recon Company. For waiting three months for shippment and a few 'nasty' emails, it better be worth it!!! LOL U.S. Marines in Korea, The Outpost War, Vol 1. So far a very excellent read!!

Okay, let me catch up, The Outpost War, Vol. 1, very excellent read, highly recommend it!! Now, for "The Elite", another very outstanding read. Has some very good pics for reference, especially on the 19 Marines who escaped and in USMC HBT's, but wearing the army style patrol cap (i guess supply was out of the 8 points...)

The army "patrol cap" was issued because it had a wool lining and fold-down ear flaps, which the USMC cap didn't... and later in the war, some marines declined to wear them because they were "Army".

that may be true, but the photos (there's multiple) look more like a summer service cover, er, i mean cap, army, 1 ea..LOL I don't think they are the winter ones. but, let's not jack this thread over something as silly as a cover, er, cap, army, 1 ea.

Once the USMC 8 pt's came in stock again, the armys were, and I quote...lol, "shitcanned those pieces of ....." lol
