I think what would be helpful to a lot of us, or at least me lol would be a list of uniforms/equipment that was issued or carried by US Army troops 50-53. What was common, and would be typical for a good impression. I do WWII so I have a lot of that stuff, but I can start with what I know off the back of my hand.
What else would you guys recommend?
Uniform: -Steal Pot, M1 (w/cover) -Jeep cap -HBT's -double buckles
Equipment: -cartridge belt -carlisle aid kit -E tool -bayonet (debatable) -canteen -mess kit with silverware
also putting crates and signs stuff like that together that would be common.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help! As far as equipments and gear are concerned, there aren't that many changes from World War II to Korea. That's probably why there aren't many lists of necessary items - chances are that you already have what you need. - MM

Well, there were a few changes during the war... double buckle boots gave way to the "jump type" combat boot. The M-51 field jacket, shoe pacs to mickey mouse boots, the overcoat/parka developed into the M-51 fishtail parka. Thiose are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head...
I know the Marines went from the WWII 3-pocket HBT (M-41?) shirts to the single pocket, tuck-in shirt (M-44-5?) as well as changing from leggings to combat boots.

Of course, hence my saying "there aren't that many changes from World War II to Korea." I acknowledged that there were changes, but the question as I read it is in relationship to creating a generic reenacting kit. If one has a standard, generic US ETO kit, you would spend more time removing things - like leggings, for example - than substituting them. But as far as I know, no one replicates the M51 field jacket, nor does anyone replicate the M48/49 style combat boot. M43s were still in the supply system, and anyone could stroll over to the PX for a pair of brown jump boots. Shoepacks were used in early in the war, and some units never received Mickey Mouse boots. According to Stanton, even M41 field jackets saw use in Korea. Do not interpret this as me suggesting that just anything will do. The same unit specific/region specific caveat applies here as with all other reenacting (i.e., do what the unit you're emulating did). But from the perspective of creating a generic reenacting kit, there just aren't that many changes that one would have to undertake. True. But the initial question dealt with the US Army and that is all I addressed. - MM
