For all of you who have the Shelby Stanton book on Korean War uniforms...take a look at the picture of Lt. Hatcher James and his men. It is the upper picture on page 154. Lt. James has on a pair of fatigues modified to have very large cargo pockets closed with lift the dots. He also has an interesting rig combining a trench knife scabbard and his .45 holster. He is also wearing an M43 pile liner without a field jacket. It gets better though! Take a look at his carbine. It has a fixed bayonet, which gives him two knives (bayonet plus the trench knife on his belt)...aaaaaaand, its an M1A1 folding stock "airborne" carbine. To top it off, one of his men has a captured PPSH41, and none are wearing helmets. These guys were reenactors before reenacting was cool!

I know the one you mean, did wonder if he was ex-Airborne or similar to have an M1A1 Carbine and modded pants. The picture says to me a fighting of Recon. patrol, though you see things like pile cap and no helmets quite often.
