Many thanks to the Book The Outpost War : The US Marine Corps in Korea, 1952 by Lee Ballenger without whose incredibly detailed history of the war at this time this impression would not have been possible. Everything I did as part of this impression was taken from 1st person accounts in that book and the photographs provided by the book.

Excellent stuff Josh, definate 10 out of 10 and sets the bar extremely high for those of us still struggling to get ourselves sorted out. Really first class job on research, detail and presentation, well done and I hope it's the kind of standards that will define Korean War reenactment in the years ahead. I have to say also, I'm very, very jealous of the flak vest!

We've got two special tours on Saturday afternoon at MTA of donors. These are people who sponsor the event, but the food, wood and pay for advertisitng and such.

Anyway, would you be willing to spend 10 minutes talking to them about the full marching gear of a Marine in 1952? I think they'd really love to see everything they carried in the Korean war.

This and the Chosin Impressions were the hardest to put together and I wouldn't have been able to do both if I hadn't stumbled into the Flak(for late war Korea) or the USMC Parka(for Chosin and other Winter Events).

The next one I am going to do is Pusan, then Inchon, then the Push North, and toward the end of the year Chosin.

Do you think the od green p41 suspenders would be appropriate? Can't find anything that can tell when the od greens were introduced to replace the od#3 ones. I can't remember if they were introduced really late WWII or, after or during Korea.

The darker OD suspenders are post-Korea.

I've finally rememberd to OPEN your pics on my home computer, I say this, OUTFRIGGINSTANDING!! I think you'd pass the gunny's inspection (course, I'm old, but not old enough to know what the heck the proper layout for Korea would be!! LOL) Still, fine job!!! Now, I'm a 'reconner', and I'm working on a 1st MarDiv Recon Co. impression, based on my conversation with Gy Caballero (in my MCL Det) and the book, 'The Elite'. Now, Gunny is a hard guy to get a hold of, so, I base most on the info/pics. Looks like they wore the P41's and the 'frogs', but they tucked the blouse in (yes, blouse, the proper term for USMC 'shirt..lol). They also didn't use leggings, they used either the VBL (Vehicle, Black Leather...boots!) or the oh, heck, looks like the double buckle army issued type.....
Josh, you have any info? I've only got Vol 1 of the Bunker War, and The Elite to go off of. Google isn't too vet friendly....LOL
