Does anybody know of a good substitute of the Korean War Era Marine Corps Combat Boot because originals are hard to find and when they do come up they are very expensive(even then I wouldn't want to wear them). I know Boondockers and the M1943 Combat Boot(in pretty limited) saw use with the USMC throughout the conflict. But I am just curious if anybody has a source of reasonably good facsimile of the above mentioned boot. For those curious as to what I am talking about here is a link that has several examples pictured: www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3497-Josh

I haven't found anything that really nails it... but you might look at Mason Shoe Co. They have farm boots that might make the grade...?

On the WW2 Proboards, there's talk that WWII impressions will be maiking paramarine jump booots, which would be about as close as we're likely to get.
Remember that these boots weren't widely seen until 1953, the Marine Corps being thrifty the way it is...

I drove that discussion on the other board and talked with Juan off board - Honestly, he very likely is not going to make paramarine boots. I am going to try, and you might too, going to a cobbler and having him make me a pair. Shouldn't be too hard, its just the boondocker with several more inches of leather. Knowing reenactors the way I do, IF there were a pair out there close they would have already found them. I'll let you know what I come up with. Best, Bill K.

Then I'd fall back on the B.A. Mason "work America" farm boots.

I was just lucky enough to pick up a size 10 1/2 1951 dated pair in very good condition. Perfect for both my 1953 impression and my 1958 Lebanon impression.
