Hello everyone! Newbie to the site and to Korean war reenacting. I've had my head in WWII stuff all my life and let my Dad pass away before I got interested in the Korean War. My Dad was in the 43rd Infantry Division. I have a few pics of him in uniform while in Korea and I have become interested in putting together a uniform I can wear to living histories in his honor. I had a lot of the uniform parts my Dad kept after the war but I wore them while playing Army as a kid and of course they are now long gone. I do remember the shirt had a "IX" patch on the arm and under it his corporal stripes. That is about all I remember. A couple of questions: Is there a 43rd infantry reenacting group? I have found out that the 102nd and the 43rd were somehow closely related but I don't know if one replaced the other or if they were 2 seperate divisions. Were the shirts the only thing that had insignia on them or did all uniform parts have insignia? Sorry to pile so much into one thread but one more question for now. Why would there not be a 43rd division patch on any of my Dad's uniform parts? (or would there and I just don't remember it?)
Thanks for everything! (Many more questions to follow)

where you live, I do not know of any groups per say. There was a guy a couple of days ago who lives in alabama who was looking for a group. His post should still be on the board. You two could hook up. As far as units in total go, you should check with John Abshir. he is the forum moderator on here and he runs an event twice a year down south. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. Still kinda wondering about the uniform questions. Can anybody help me with those? I have some pics of my Dad in Korea so I am going to try and mirror his uniform. I have some pics in cold weather gear and during warmer weather also. If anybody wants to see them to help out with an impression just let me know.

The 102nd Infantry Regiment was part of the 43rd Infantry Division. That may be the association you are thinking of. I regret I do not know of anyone re-enacting this unit. Apparently they spent the Korean War in Germany. www.43d-research.com/43d_Korea1.htmlThe "IX" patch sounds like a IX Corps patch. The IX Corps was in Korea during the conflict, I believe. Perhaps your father had originally been in the 43rd division and was transferred to some element of IX Corps.

My Dad was transfered into the IX Corps when he was sent to Korea. My Dad did his basic at Camp Pickett with the 43rd. Thanks for the reply. Dog
