I have been a world war 2 reenactor in Florida for 8 years now and want to get into Korean war. Does anyone have any reccomendations of where to start. What should I look at getting first, resources, etc. I think I want to do a Ranger Company but I am not sure. Any help would be great.

The 5th Ranger Bn made from the 82nd airborne were used in an airborne assault. I also believe the 3rd and 2nd were used too. After WWII the Ranger battalions sorta "disintegrated" but then the U.S finally realized that they needed them once again to "Lead The Way!"

I've heard an identical story for Vietnam.
I don't want to offend your source, but this story strikes me as a military "urban legend." No attempt to find the guy? No inquiry into what happend? No names? Something's fishy with that tale.

Yep and the official history of the Rangers in Korea I have says they did not operate in that way and that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 8th Army Rangers were inactivated on August 1st 1951. Most of the personnel were transferred to the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. So yeah...

So his story, and his time in country were from a period when the Rangers ceased to exist as an assist in the Theater of Operations? And this does not throw up any red flags for you? You know I have a bridge in Brooklyn...

I'm sorry, but even if Wikipedia were a credible source on a good day (and it isn't), the fact that they clearly state that this article is not up to their so-called "standards of quality" doesn't bode well for it's use.
