Watched this one last night to get in the mood for our display this weekend. It was directed by Samuel Fuller (also did "The Big Red One"), and premiered in 1951. It's basically about a tough Sgt. who bumps into a patrol and helps them take and defend an isolated OP. Pretty WW2 ish. It was OK, predictable but somewhat darker than most war movies of the period. Farby as all get-out, everyone wears early WW2 web gear w/ long bayonets.
It was a decent movie, but being used to more modern ones kinda spoils me as far as the old ones.
On a side note, the tough Sgt. is saved by a little Korean kid, who then follows him around. The Sgt. calls him "Short round". That was where the "Temple of Doom" kid gets his name from.
