Well, if the shoulderboards are original to it then it wouldn't be Chinese, it doesn't look like any North Korean uniform I'm familiar with, but honestly there just isn't much info on NK stuff (the NK's are kinda secretive about military stuff). I'm intrigued, so I'll look through all the material I have.

On another board, someone named it a Spanish Civil War (1936-9) tunic; someone else suggested it might be an OPFOR tunic.

It's not OPFOR. I have a couple of those and the manual for OPFOR uniforms..Not even close. Lower pockets are wrong for Spanish Civil War. Maybe post war.

I think the key to figuring it out is the shoulderboards, I've never seen any with the piping running along the bottom edge like that. Next time I get a chance I'll flip through and look at everbody's rank structure, who knows it could be Latvian or Estonian or something similar.

Common consensus seems to be 50's Spanish Army..I'm still open until I see a good picture of one or at least the shoulder boards like you said. This is one of the few things that throws me.. I got a couple bullion badges that are oddballs too. Probably like Uraguay Air Force or somethin..LOL

I pick up a North Korean uniform from Capital Military Sales several years ago. He said he had some make up for the 50th aniversary and their did not seem to be any interest. (Reenactors of movies). He might still have some of the uniforms. (also had hats, belts, canteens)
Have been doing Civil War reenacting for the past 9 years, but have and interest in North Korean and North Vietnamese

Do you have a website or an email for this company, I am not aware of it and maybe we could show him there is some intrest atleast in this area. That is if the uniforms and such are correct.

This is the website www.nchsinc.com/ . George Petersen has been around for over 20 years. The web site is under construction, but there is a phone number. I will call later today and see what is still avaliable. I got out my box of repro North Korean stuff I got off him several years ago---Tan shirt with shoulder boards, trousers. Field hat with star, canteen, belt, ammo pouches, 4-pocket grenade pouch, and a nice pair of shoes (chinese made) (green cotton top with black rubber soles--look good, but do not look like they would hold up for a long period) . I called the shop today and he has summer uniforms and other gear in stock. He also has some winter padded uniforms in a tan cotton. His e-mail address is gpete2000@aol.com He is checking on prices as he has not had these out for some time.
I'll try to take some pictures of the summer uniform I have.
I am going to order the wintrer uniform.
