Hey, I really need some questions answered or some help on what I should do. This weekend coming up me and a buddy of mine are going to a army time line display not sure of all the details. But he has a Korean era jeep and asked me to join him protraying Army soldiers during this time. This is something ive been thinking of getting into for a while but now that we have something has come up I am going to pursure. Here is what Im going to wear and please tell me if i'm wrong. I plan on being early in the war since I have ww2 gear.
HBT Pants and Jacket worn as a shirt. M-43 Jacket Jump Boots, these are actually 50's dated when I bought them Garand Belt, 43 shovel, canteen Garand
Also Im wondering can I wear the HBT cap?? or should I not and just go with a helmet. And I dont plan on wearing any unit patches.
So please let me know, this is also something Im going to be building on to I would like to keep building on this era. Thanks

HBT caps are OK, especially for the early part of the war, but you see less and less of them as the war goes on. The setup sounds good to me, I like to mix in some post WW2 stuff just to not look like a "WW2 Guy". The boots may be the post WW2 ones that were available through the PX system and issued to some folks, there's a few minor differences on the back of the boot and most people sell them as jump boots. I honestly couldn't tell you the differences off the top of my head...

Great man thanks, but I really dont know what to add in. I went to two surplus stores this weekend and they were both closed. I would love to add some different stuff in cause i dont want to look ww2. And i know what u mean about the boots, the only difference I have found is the stitching on the boots.

I usually try to have as much dark OD stuff as possible and have a M-51 or M43 cap (the one that looks like the modern "Patrol cap"), or a pile cap in cold weather. Later in the war tucking in the HBT top and having a helmet cover made out of Burlap from a sandbag were common, neither of which you see much in WW2.

Yes, I think the pile cap is great! And maybe a white t-shirt.
I know it's not accurate for early period, but a black/yellow US ARMY tape above the pocket, would differentiate you from WWII

Another thought...maybe a parka of some kind rather than your m-43 (you don't need the liner) and mittens stuck into your belt.
That's how I'm planning to go to our Memorial Day parade.
