As you can tell from the website, we're trying to relax the uniform requirements to begin with. Chinese is pretty flexible, the only thing more flexible is VC and Partisan. Nobody wants to be a farb, but we don't have many sources, nobody repro's anything, and we want to get a number of people and focus more on tactics. If seeing someone in a tuck in shirt instead of a Mao jacket is going to ruin your "moment", then wait til Korean War gets big. If you want to sneak around at night and try to creep within grenade range of the Americans without making any noise, then you should think about joining. Just like the real military, what everyone's wearing should only be a tiny, tiny part of the whole experience.

I've introduced myself to John on the WW2 list, but I'll introduce myself here as well.
I'm Peter Geyer, and I live in Vienna, VA which is just outside Washington, DC. A friend of mine and I are in the early stages of putting together 1953 U.S. Army Infantry impressions. Still lots of work left to do before we're ready. But it's great to have this site as a resource for those interested in representing this forgotten and strategically extremely important war. Hopefully we can get others interested, and share sources for information and material.
On a side note, I was able to visit the DMZ a couple of years ago. That was probably the most surreal day of my life so far, and I've had some pretty surreal days.

Hi all, I'm also glad to find other people interested in the Korean War Period. I been having to research everything by myself with no one to compare notes with or share info or just what ever. ;D

Hi! I do the 2nd ID for Korea, my impresion is 1953 so people wont mistake my impression for WWII. So far all I have done are parades, but the Veterans give a great response since no one around here does the Forgetton War. Any one in the St. Louis area? papajoad

Easiest way is to have a photobucket account and upload photos to that. If you already have one, underneath each picture is several lines of address code. The bottom one "image code" is the one you want. Copy it, paste it onto a post, and it will show up if it meets the size restrictions of the forum. Photobucket automatically resizes to a reasonable format, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Hi there, I'm the president of "Crevecoeur" (Heartbreak, in french), we are reenacting the french Bat (of course) in Korea, we are now 15 members and in multi-era reunion (from the romans to the Gulf war) we are able to show a trench with a bunker, and a rest camp in the mid war. Our impression is 51-52 with late ww2 US uniforms with typical french stuff like wrist dog tag, black beret, cheche (north african troops scarf) and so on.. We are very proud to have been invited in the" Invalides" in Paris (where Napoleon tumb is!!) to be a part of a retrospective of the french forces, from 1914 to 1996 (UN in Bosnia) It was a pleasant day, amazing to be among dozens of tourists and get pictured by ...chineses. Here is a link to see pictures of a wonderfull day bf.onu.en.coree.xooit.com/t100-le-Bleuet-de-France-dimanche-7-Octobre-2007.htmKorean war in France is also very forgotten since the french army was fighting in Indochina. I must say that we are more than welcome by the french veterans.

I'm very glad to hear your group has received a good reaction from the public and the veterans. At our first event last month we also received a good reaction here in the U.S., a pleasant surprise.

Thank You,just signed up and hope I am not out of place. I am trying to find a site or patterns that carry Korean War era, EM, summer dress uniform clothes and/or patterns. My step-father served in Korea and wants a uniform. We can make it if we can get the pattern, but will still need help on insignia, and accessories. He was a Staff Sergeant, medic, and I feel he wants this for his burial, when that time comes. Hopefully, not very soon.He is a really good man. Any ideas, anyone?

Not sure of protocol as yet, is it acceptable to mention proper names? I am sure my step-father would be delighted to find an old friend he could talk with if that possibility would arise....

If he's looking for someone he served with he probably won't find them here, I'd try the Korean War Educator website.

my grandfather served under the 7th army in the 7th infantry division also known as the 7 steps to hell by lots of people. his name is Garland Creasey and i believe he was a truck driver in the war but it was still dangerous over there.
