Ok Guys, its that time of year again where we start to get geared up for the Korean War event. This year Paul McCurley will be taking over the logistics part of the planning and he will be the one you will send your registration checks in for. For the sake of cutting costs for the event and the fact we are working on getting full time Insurance coverage for our events, we are going to stop providing food at events....but we will still provide Beer at the conclusion of our events...I mean we are not savages. The scenario this year will be different, so those of you who are thinking of sneaking out on Sat afternoon/night...you are going to miss a signifigant portion of the event so PLEASE try and stay until Sunday Morning.
To make things easier on everyone, myself included, we have decided to stick with the 2nd Infantry Division for tacticals...so people wont have to swap out SSI anymore, just Ranks. Our Chinese numbers seem to grow and the event has no other direction but up. The hickup at the last event as far as parking has been addressed, and although it could not have been avoided, I acted on bad intel and for that I apologise. We will be hosting the event at another venue and I will post directions to the site when I have the 100% confirmed location. I can tell you that it will be near the Williamsburg, VA area.
I will be posting the event requirements After the holidays, I just wanted to get word out that the party is still on and that I want to try and get some accurate headcounts from unit leaders so we can better plan this puppy out. So let me know who can come so I can build up our platoon roster for the event.
Abshire
PS: You Chinese types can contact Bren Woodard, Brenwoodard@yahoo.com and get organized with him.

I want to come to this so bad... It's just a matter of trying to find a way to get to Virginia from Texas... flying would be the fastest and maybe cheaper than driving, I don't know... what is the closest airport to the site? I dunno, might be a long shot, but I've really been itching to do a Korean War tactical! I have a complete Chinese Volunteer's kit, uniform, gear, and weapon. Looks like you guys have the big Korean War event in the states!

That is definitely a thought... do you know if they have any policy about bringing in firearms? I will probably be bringing a blank firing only non-gun, do you think I would encounter any problems?
Also, when are you planning on leaving and returning? Let me know, thanks so much!

Mail your firearm first. You should mail it to one of the guys who is going to the event a few days before you leave. Then mail it back to yourself the day the event ends. That is the easiest form.

Lone Star, We (my GF and I) are CPV OPFOR and as such will probably head to the site Friday during the day in order to scout out the land, meet with the organizers, set up our base camp, and start laying out some surprises for our 2nd ID friends. Then of course, heading back when the event ends, so probably Sunday morning. As such, you could come over Thursday, crash at our place, and then ride down with us on Friday, and leave on Sunday evening or Monday morning. As for checking guns, check out this link: www.custom-glock.com/flying.html. I've never done it, but I know plenty of people who have, and all you typically have to do is put the gun unloaded in a hard-sided, lockable travel case that you then check with your luggage. Or, alternatively, you could either mail it, or see if anyone has a spare weapon they'll let you borrow at the site. Are you doing GI? If you're doing CPV, I can definitely get you a loaner bolt-action. Hope you can make it!

I understand to contact Woodard about details for CCF... but is this definitely going to take place Feb. 26-28th? I'm forced to make all my vacation plans for the entire year in January so the confirmed dates will be most appreciated!!
I'm going to do my damnest to make it down from Indiana as I'm wrapping up my reenacting career this year.

btswanfury, Thanks for the info! I will look into it. I will be doing CPV, even though I also have a full GI kit, but I like doing OPFOR because I know that is what is needed most. I just want to be a part of a big Korean War event, and the things I've read about the last two make it sound awesome. I read that these events are typically full immersion and first person affairs... is this true? I've been to several reenactments that have put up elaborate websites detailing the intense scenarios and how its going to be "full immersion" and I get there and everyone is camped next to their truck with six packs and coolers everywhere... we have those in Texas, I don't need to fly to Virginia for one! But I'd love to be a part of something unique that is hardcore, and only "pack on your back" stuff. I could really get into that! I've been looking for an event like that for years. Hard to find in WWII... down south anyways.
Thanks for your hospitality, if I am able to get the funds to come, I will definitely take you up on your offer!

Dave, Oh, hell no. Last time the GIs didn't step off until it was after dark. Made it about 200 meters down the road, and hit a fallen tree. Of course, they all thought it was an ambush (I was tagging along with them with my GI uniform to help make sure everything went smoothly), but it was in reality just a tree that had fallen the night before. So, in the dark they took turn with axes clearing the roadway, while a squad provided security on the perimeter. Once we got to the site where they set up, Woodard and I went off to "look for a break in the phone line," fired off some rounds, screamed real loudly, scattered some bloody bandages and my carbine and hat, and then took off to join the CPV. Then we spent the next 6 hours broadcasting Chinese music and propaganda through a bull horn, firing off flares, and low crawling towards their positions to lob grenades at the poor guys. Once the moon came out, we went back to our camp and warmed ourselves around a fire while the GIs froze and ate cold rations in their half-gug foxholes. So, in short, no. People will not be camping around their trucks drinking beer. Hope you can make it.

Marc, Could you send me a quick message at darksparrow@juno.com or post your email address here so I can write you? That way we can talk about possibilities of me flying in/mailing you my gear etc. so that hopefully I can make it to this event! Thanks so much!

The site will be in Williamsburg, VA and the tactical will be very different than it has been the past 2 events. We are trying to mix things up a little so we dont get ourselves into a rut. Hot chow will be provided and the event fee will be 25 Dollars as per usual. I will get you the addresses for the registration info put up soon and I will get the address for the new site in Williamsburg. This is going to be a typical Korean War event, cold, long, and maybe with a little luck it will snow!
New info will be posted soon,
Abshire

Thanks for the heads up... would have been good to hear it earlier, I'm sure glad I didn't buy a plane ticket to fly in for this event like I was seriously considering... yikes
