Cotton thermals, under wool od107 M1951 shirt and trousers (are they supposed to ride that high?), under M1951 field jacket and slacks w/ appropriate liners, under overcoat.
There was often a mix of ww2 uniforms as I understand but would the above be an accurate recreation? if not what would be?

Typically, you can mix in pretty much any WWII shit you want. In fact, a lot of the "Korean War"-era stuff that comes out isn't really issued and widely worn until the mid to late war period, say from late 51 on.
As such, its possible to come out wearing entirely WWII stuff and still be accurate.
So to those particular pieces, I don't know enough about American military uniforms to answer, lol.

To agree with what's been said above, M1951 clothing would make it fairly late war or post-cease fire in many cases. Some new designs were rushed through as a matter of necessity, winter/cold weather clothing in particular, but oher items took their time getting through, with things like the plain green cloth helmet cover you even get freak events stepping in to upset things! Before that point your looking at early kit, both WW2 and late 40's stuff. M43 suits over WW2 pattern HBT's, lots of buckle top boots, with a fair smattering of OD7 and even OD3 fieldgear, even comparative military antiques like the M41 field jacket still crop up, there hadn't been a lot of kit development after WW2 and there was still a huge stock of WW2 produced clothing and equipment around and on issue. It's usually best thought to not 'back engineer' something by looking at what kit you have then trying to fit it to an impression, it can be no less of a headache than looking at a specific impression and then geting the kit together for it. You'd be fairly same with what you have for a fairly generic 1953/54 impression though, so look at what units were deployed at that time then maybe just look for a few pics. to confirm the kit.
