I'm not 100% sure about the Korean era caps, but didn't they have fold down ear protectors? That may be why the marines are wearing them.

I'm thinking they were considered part of the M-1943 uniform. I do see Marines wearing them from time to time. I think I have a bunch of modern Navy marked ones at home that were issued to a friend along with M-65 stuff.

My vet friend said they wouldn't wear them in 3/5 because they looked like army caps... said they were also issued jeep caps (Radar O'Reilly) but not too many wore those either... I'll have to ask him how they kept their ears warm???

DUH... They wore the "bunny caps" The trooper hats with the long ear flaps; that's how they kept their ears warm
