Hey, Im not sure how many of you know about these shirts, but they are hard to find, but they were issued from ww1 till the 60s. They are cut like the Khaki shits, but are a nice cozy flannel and are to be worn with the winter service dress. But Alot of marines wore them under HBTs to stay warm in korea, along with the Army Sweaters and such.... But anyway...here is a good source for a good repro.. www.schipperfabrik.com/usmc_uniforms.htmlits about 80 bucks, but you cant put a price on a warm body.

The girls that stand out in front of the convienient store across Preston Hwy from me are always trying to put a price on a warm body. Police just nabbed one for unfair trade practices last night it looked like.

Be aware that that is the WWI pattern shirt while very close it is not the one used during WWII and beyond. The 5 buttons down the front stop short of the belt line. the shirt was ment to be tucked across itself. I do have one of these shirts that I use under my WWII winter service because it fits better than the orginal that I have and dont typicly take off the tunic. Again this one is a good substitue for an orginal until someone begins makeing a correct 40's and beyond style.

Marines in WWI wore a "pull over" shirt, and I do believe that's what Schipperfabrik has for sale.
Marines in WWII and long after had a khaki cotton summer shirt and a khaki winter wool flannel shirt; both "similar" to the Army shirts of the time.
Also, during certain periods the USMC would issue forrest green wool flannel shirts, of the same cut as the khaki wool shirts. I just saw one of these on ebay a few days ago, but I don't know if these shirts were in fact issued during the 1950-53 period.
