Would the the ROKs also get WWII od #7 shelter halves? I'm starting to get my impression together. Since what they got was very close to the U.S. equipment I'm gonna get whatever they used really and what i can gather from the very scarce pics i find! Here's the items I have now. Also I'm going for a "spring-fall" impression with the uniform. I have a WWII imp and from what i understand and know is that alot of the equipment was left over WWII.
What I have:
M1 helmet front seam swivel bale with a korean war liner HBT set corcoran brown jump boots HBT cap white undershirt od boxers socks
m1945 suspenders m1945 pack WWII od#7 pistol belt WWII canteen set m1942 carlisle pouch od#7 .30 bandoleer WWII brown .45 holster .45 ammo pouch 1945 dated od #7 shelter half mess kit with fork, spoon, knife
Yes, I do know that there was still od#3 aka khaki equipment but I just like the od #7 color more.
What I need or will be getting:
3-4 m1 carbine pouches (going for a m1/2 carbine rifle man web set) m1945 lower pack personel items <--- will need help with this. c rats m1 carbine bayonet m1 carbine cleaning kit shelter half accessories (pegs, poles rope) anything else please tell me! I want to get this as accurate as possible.
I have 2 impressions "complete" Vietnam and WWII. and soon a Korean war if you guys can help me out (which will be very much appreciated!). and Yes i will always be trying to improve all 3 and the only real thing i need to really complete these are to get items to fill the pouches and packs with. I have a list of items for WWII that i will be getting and was wondering if any WWII personnel items could also be used for personnel items for my Korean war imp I.E. wool blankets, tooth brush, shaving kit)
again always looking for tips on how to improve my impression
Thanks,

I would switch out your jump boots with either M1943 Combat Boots or the M1949(?) Combat Boots.
Also what year(or years) do you plan on doing?

mid war 1952. I'm using the para boots because they are "closest" to the m1949s just with 12 eyelets instead of 10. Plus, tried out the double buckles and didn't like how they felt.

Ok. Are you planning to do any specific unit or just generic ROK?
If you are doing that late of a war impression I would get an M1952A1 Flak Vest or the M12 Flak Vest. I would also think about picking up a Burlap helmet cover, pending what you research concludes.

. . . I have a list of items for WWII that i will be getting and was wondering if any WWII personnel items could also be used for personnel items for my Korean war imp I.E. wool blankets, tooth brush, shaving kit) It really depends on what items you're thinking of carrying. The problem is that while the products themselves might not have changed much, their packaging did. What exactly do you have in your personal kit? - MM

Just really a general ROK troop. When I try to search for info on a unit nothing comes up. It just gives me american units etc. I know 2 websites that give me what units the R.O.K had and used in the war but when i search for it hardly anything comes up. I would like to have a certain unit impression but sadly that info is hard to get and thus forces me into doing what i see in pics that are scattered about. So far my research has come up with them having a mix for what they had for covers. Most of them are the 1 1/2 inch netting, some burlap and others nothing. But there is one pic of 2 R.O.K (R.O.K.M.C?) soldiers raising a flag and have frog camo covers. But since I have my 1 1/2 inch netting I will be using that and it will be fine. Which m1952 flak? I have a m1952A dated march 1954. But wasn't sure if that was a updated version that never really made it out. If I'm wrong about that then that will be great news since I could then use it although it is a post war dated. For personnel kit just a mess kit with utensils and thats it. That is the thing I would like to concentrate on now for my kit after I get the gear or with items I listed. "The problem is that while the products themselves might not have changed much, their packaging did" Yes, that is what I thought. I was reading in one of the threads that C-rats from WWII were issued and thought these may be fine. www.ww2rationtechnologies.com/Crations.html But If not I will try to find originals. Also another thing I should get is extra socks and under shirts. Would like to have the pouches/pack filled Thanks for the info so far! been a good deal of help.

As for personal goods, the best advice I could give you is to consult several period "women's" or "family" magazines. The advertisements should point you in the right direction for the proper labels and packaging.
This will help with most personal items, but being ROK, however, you'd also want some Korean labeled packaging in your kit.
