I figured I'd mention, today is "Army Day" in China, commemorating August 1st, 1927, when the Red Army was founded when units of the KMT (Nationalist Chinese) army rebelled in the Nanchang uprising. It's a big part of the Chinese Army's culture, the markings in the PLA star and flag ( ”ªˆê )are the Chinese characters for 8 and 1.
