I got bored, and I made a website for a Chinese unit. The unit isn't recruiting because it doesn't exist. I may change the site to more of a reference on Chinese reenacting than a specific unit. I haven't gotten to the uniform or equipment pages, but hopefully the "Sources" and "reenacting Chinese" pages can be of some use to people on here. The whole thing was just to see how hard it was to make a website (it honestly wasn't that tough). Please don't ask about joining! www.geocities.com/brenwoodard/Chinese/index.htm

Thanks Bren!! nice job and a much needed resource... May I offer a suggestion? Someplace on the site you might want to direct them back here or to the yahoogoup. Maybe you've already done that and I just didn't notice it. Anyhow, nice work my friend!

There's one in every crowd, isn't there...
And I'll probably add a link here and to the yahoo group when I get home. Good idea.

Hey Bren, Fantastic job on the site, heck in my opinion why not start recruiting for a Chinese unit and get a "jump start" on authenticity on the Communist side!?!? A net presence that can be posted and advertised is how things grow. There already has to be somewhere between 6 to 8 of us putting Chinese impressions together! I vote for Chairman Bren to lead our Regiment, you are a party member right? Patrick Hubble

The Indiana contingent of the 338th Regiment votes for Bren as overall Commander!
I'm hoping to be ready for my first pics next weekend. Have a postwar fur cap until I can cobble together something better, but everything else is coming along pretty well.
Can someone give me the dimensions on the stick grenades??? Lengths and diameters of the component parts would be great; I'll try to repop something we can use.

I'd forgotten about the website, I always meant to go back and do the other sections....
I'd probably look for dummy grenades under NVA stuff. They weren't mass produced, so as long as they fit in the carriers they should be OK. IIRC the Emering book of VC and NVA equipment has some good pictures of various sizes and styles. I thought about trying to make some reenacting grenades that would be about the right shape. They'd have to be heavy enough to throw but to light to not hurt anyone, reuseable but cheap enough not to be worried about loosing...
I think this calls for me and a few other members of this forum spending a weekend making and throwing grenades at each other. All in the name of reenacting, of course.

They wouldn't pass muster for living history, but a small mushroom can perched on a length of PVC tubing makes a great "throw away" grenade for tacticals... especially for the initial assault team!!

Yea, for living history I'd look for some being sold as "NVA/VC".

I just got 4 pieces of the stick grenades off ebay... Salty man, salty; Ouch!
I tried to order a bunch of them from China Badge, but they won't ship the grenades to the US...they don't speak English either, so I had to ask one of the gals at work to make the call.
In any event, I'll see if I can't get a quantity of them re-popped in wood (turned on a lathe) for distribution to our CCF comrades. I'll keep the board posted on what develops.

No, I haven't messed with it in a while. I know I should, I'm just lazy.
